wedding websites

I have been looking at wedding websites a lot recently, most times just looking at the pictures.I came across a site belonging to a couple i was acquainted with and looked at their story page...let's say there were some important details left out of that story.People are aware of how romantic a story is when it's describing how long the couple have been together or how they saw themselves across the room and it was love at first sight. All that is well and good but please if it really didnt happen, dont make up details because not all relationships started off smoothly.I know it's your prerogative to write what you want on your wedding site but it really doesn't have to be played out like a nollywood script.

Dont say you have been together for 8 years when you broke up for four years and you were dating other people-i think it's kind of disrespectful to your partners then.
I am all for the stories that make me go "Aww" but I dont want to be doing that all over a fake story, even normal relationships that didn't last decades can be romantic in their own way.If only we could all have love stories a la "love and basketball".Aww

O.k rant over,**back to looking at cool wedding pics**.
XOXO

Naija

Wassup Guys?
My trip to Naija was very eventful,it was the attack of the "sneeze".I bought a drink at the airport and just as i had enjoyed the lovely two gulps one wicked man decided to sneeze just beside me.I cussed him endlessly cause i was feeling so parched and there was no way i was buying the over-priced drink again. The plane was delayed for an hour which wasn't a major surprise,o.k time for food and i had another "sneeze" episode. The guy in front of me had to wait until the food arrived before he decided to sneeze and not even with an handkerchief oh,but with his head turned towards my seat.Another cold drink down the drain...

I had a CID experience on the way back from the airport.saw this two suspicious guys that i just felt they were tailing the car. They were walking together but now separated, one was standing beside us and when we drove past a car i saw the other one on the phone about to enter a car, i made sure he saw me watching him.My siblings made fun of me,but i am still suspicious of those guys.It is well.

I have eaten most of the food on my list and been to the eateries i marked out to go to.

There are so many places to have one's hair done did mine on sunday, how ironic that i don't like the woman that i have her hairstyle

I didn't get to see Rio during his trip to naija, wanted to go to the MTN connect center but i couldn't get anyone to take me.Talking of sports,Naija is definitely over the top crazy about football everywhere i go there is something that has to do with football. There are quite a number of chelsea fans, but majority is still Arsenal and United.

Watched sex and the city on Monday there were so many people at the cinema-saw Tee A,Laspapi,Okey Bakassi,Jedi and Tosin Dekalu(Lady Cobbler),i guess that's the power of concessions. The film was nice,i had fun but it was longer than i thought it would be and i got back home later than expected.

Will probably go and watch laspapi's wole soyinka plays one of these coming sundays.

Takia guys

Gooogie...

I found this funny but you need to view with the upbeat one here.(The upbeat is not working on my page, but wenger dancing is just so weird)Just for my arsenal friends, cheer up-there's always next season:)

GooogIe
Have fun with gooogie, you can make up your own google search and send the link to your friends for a laugh. So some pretty funny links on United weboard, but it doesnt have to be about sports. The link is here.I tried it out and this was my search here

For fellow footie lovers like me,if you have not seen the spoof series on youtube with Mourinho as the host, you guys should check it out. There are some pretty hilarious episodes-they tried with many of the voices being almost identical to the real characters. It's titled "I am on Setanta sports",this is the first episode below

Nollywood and other gists

What is with the new themes in Nigerian Home videos-I have watched like 5 films in the last two weeks and 4 of them have been about lesbianism and the 5th one was even about Incest?!The pawing and the acting was just deplorable...yes nollywood we get the point.
Then Mr Desmond Elliot-Are you the only actor left in Nigeria? One can watch 10 films and he will be in like 9 of them!I just watched a yoruba film on youtube and guess who was in it again...

Is it an indication of the world we live in when 12-13 yr old kids make out in public with careless abandon. The worse part was that they started of with what was close to assault which they regarded as having fun, they were like the spectacle at starbucks that day but they didn't seem to care.Am i going to walk into Mr Biggs one day and that will be the sight that will befall me?!I hope not, although we know what kids get up to in the name of having fun but i still want to believe that they can respect themselves and their parents enough in public.I just think of how at the age of 21 i was still scared to hold on to a guy in public in Naija even though i was allowed male visitors at home.Times are changing and sometimes i think it's changing too fast for the negative things.

9ice
I am loving my new 9ice album, street credibility is trying to take the place of gongo aso on my favourite list, but i have space for both of them in my top spot.If you haven't heard his new album check out his myspace here ....and then go out and buy the album.LOL!

Footie and passport
One would first wonder at the relevance of this topic. My classmates want to go spain to watch the Barcelona-United game, their own main issue is getting tickets but with my lovely green passport i need to get a visa ASAP if i want to go on the trip.My classmates went to paris and amsterdam for the easter break but i couldn't go,i was limited to looking at picture albums..really i love my country but i can't say the same about my passport!

Have fun guys!xoxo

Footie-
Sunday is "Grand Slam Sunday",the day when the top four teams in England play against one another. All the grand slams of the past have rarely lived up to expectations, with the games turning out cagey.I am seriously hoping for a Manchester United Victory in the early kick-off and a draw in the other match will suit me perfectly.

Have a lovely easter everyone! xoxo

Letting go.....

Dear S,
It's time to let you go.I have held on for too long,i always had a feeling it wouldn't work out but i didnt realise it would be worse than that.
It was my fault i was the other woman,if only i was able to see into the future i wouldn't have even given you my room number that day.Everyone knew us,but they loved you and her together-she was the nice one,i was the "seductive" one.
I take all the blame because i took the decision to be with you.You didn't have to tell me all those lies about caring about me and how there was no future between you and her.

I was gullible enough to fall for your excuses, you made me cry one too many times but i will never shed another tear over you.Everyone sees you as this perfect guy but you never showed me that side of you and i blame myself for it.The song should have been a clue but i chose not to listen.I just need you to realise that you don't need to contact me periodically to stay friends-we never were and we never will be.

I heard you guys are now back together and would be getting married this year,i guess religion is no more an issue. The parents now see you as a potential husband for their daughter and not a gold-digger.You finally found your plug to your socket and i am sure i will find my sooner rather than later.
You might get to read this and you might not but i am 110% sure that someone you know will and might put 2 and 2 together and get 4.In your case it's never 6 degrees of separation but 1.

Congratulations

You know you are getting old........

HAPPY NEW YEAR!It's been a while.
Uni has been fun and stressful.Classmates have turned into friends, classmates have stayed classmates!I can't believe we are already in the second semester and i need a dissertation topic like yesterday.

I was just thinking about the title recently when my friend tried to matchmake me with his friend.I was dreading the guy asking me for my age, because most of my friends' discussion is about not dating girls older than 23!
It now got me thinking...........
You know you are getting old....
When you shy away from telling your real age
When getting money from your siblings is odd
When every other call from your parents has to do with marriage
When you go out shopping and all you think of buying is that new office outfit
There are still more am sure, but i guess we cant avoid the inevitable.....

I am not asking for McDreamy

...Because i know am not "Meredith",my father didn't abandon me and my mom doesn't constantly tell me i am ordinary.I am asking that you take me as i am,love me in spite of my "shortcomings"(lol, that actually sounded like a speech by Mer.).
How come some guys expect you to tolerate their faults while they can't/won't tolerate ours.Do you think that is fair-cause i don't.

Now i need to rant about my favourite programmes for their respective new seasons.
UK people, don't read further abeg, only if you are not bothered about knowing future storylines......

Grey's Anatomy-Is it me or is that programme slowly going downhill.I told myself i would stop watching it when they fired Isiah but the draw of MerDer is strong. Now the reason i am watching the show is being messed with-first they wanted to attach McDreamy and Meredith's sister, now i am hearing they are bringing a new woman into the picture. Why wont Shonda just allow MerDer to be together, isn't it time Meredith got healed-was this not the same woman asking to be loved and chosen 2 seasons ago?

Desperate Housewives-I am loving the Carlos/Gabrielle storyline, although why they didn't realise they were so much in love when they were both single? Now that silly Eadie is about to suss things out!

Heroes-Am not feeling the Hiro's storyline in Japan.I never realised until now that Peter petrelli was in Gilmore girls. The boy is cute sha and i miss his locks!

Facebook-Spamming in facebook is getting really annoying! My funwall is just filled with forwarded mails that have been sent to my mailbox-i am really thinking of removing that application.
Do random people poke you?I cant imagine how i would poke someone i don't know, well maybe if it was Blair Underwood(LOL!).If someone pokes me and i dont know the person-sorry i wont reciprocate

Dinner for five

Eid Mubarak to my muslim friends!
I had fun celebrating Eid even though i still miss the Naija way.My classmate decided to cook dinner for me to celebrate the end of Ramadhan,we had planned that we were going to go to a restaurant before but my friend was like why don't we just chill and eat at home.We were like is he sure he can cook,he was like sure, what do we want to eat.Tope was like she wanted french cuisine and he said no problem.I was busy thinking to myself,"i hope i don't go there and disgrace myself" cause i am not very adventurous when it comes to food.
We asked him what ingredients should we bring,he was like no problem he would take care of everything.

Anyways not to just go there empty-handed,we got some plates, cutleries, cakes and some drinks.I didn't know what wine to pick but just gambled on a bottle that looked nice.
We walked round the town looking for his apartment cause his descriptions were very hazy at best.It was a policeman that actually showed us the way,who by the way seemed drunk to me,well maybe it was the accent:).We finally got to his place and we were surprised at the preparations, the food was smelling lovely!
We gisted for a while and my friend was tripping that his flatmate was italian(i also think italians can be so sexy),everyone was laughing and just generally had a good time.

The food was served,so the time of reckoning was here(LOL) for me and my taste buds. The presentation was on point almost looked like a restaurant meal-the only difference was the disposable plates:).I already could see so many things i have never eaten before on my plate, the meal was a combination of Italian and French food. The chicken was on point and that was what i used to neutralise the effect of the vegetable mix which had an odd taste.Long story short,i just ate the rice and the chicken and quickly took my plate to the kitchen to hide the evidence in the bin.In a gathering that had other Nigerians i knew i wouldn't be the only one with an ordinary taste in food so it was all good.

It was a great night out and am sure we will be doing more of it,i just need to train my taste buds to start accepting foods other than ogbono and egusi :(!

Fears

I have learned over the years that when one's mind is made up, this diminishes fear; knowing what must be done does away with fear.-Rosa Parks

The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.
-- H. P. Lovecraft
.

We all have our fears in life don't we,even the most successful of people feel a level of apprehension for something. It might not be about money or relationships,it could be health fears.I have fears right now,i worry about my new degree.I have so many questions-Is it the right course for me?Would they expect something different from my old uni?If they do can i provide that something different? Will it get me the job i want and not just a job to make ends meet?
I have fears concerning marriage-Will i meet someone i like enough to marry? Will i ever completely forget my ex?Did my ex dent my emotions so much that i can't seem to find someone else? Will i give in to pressure just because all my friends are married?Do i care that the "love of my life" is getting married?

I have accepted that these fears are now part of me for now but also realised that the worst thing will be for me to worry excessively about them.If i worry now and don't buckle down enough to get the best out of my degree then some of my fears might well be confirmed.
I have accepted that there is no need to give in to pressure from people telling me/asking me why i am not married.I shouldn't settle for someone just because i am tired of people making snide remarks, they wouldn't be around when my "husband" starts getting on my nerves for no apparent reason.
I have accepted my Fears and I am living with them!

The conquest of fear lies in the moment of its acceptance.-Unknown.

As Bobby McFerrin says-Don't worry,Be Happy!
